82mm Solar Filter ND1000000,20-Stop Solid Neutral Density Filter Celestial Event Photography Filter with 28 Multi-Layer Coatings Nano-Xcel Series
SKU: KF01.2583V1
This is a well made and functional solar filter. I purchased the 82mm diameter version, ND1000000, 20 stop for use with a Fujifilm 150-600mm lens. The filter has a sturdy metal frame, with raised grooves to assist in loosening and tightening the filter. The filter itself is glass, but quite lightweight. It installed easily and securely to the lens, and allowed the lens cap to go on over the filter. It also comes with a nice carry case when not in use.
The images of the sun with auto white balance come through in a neutral gray color, but boosting the white balance to a manual 8,000K gave a more pleasing yellow hue.
My only question that I’m looking to have answered is the IR transmission of this filter. I want to make sure if I have this pointing at the sun for several hours during the upcoming eclipse (taking interval photos every five minutes or so), will enough infra red wavelengths come in to heat up and damage the camera sensor.
Certainly a quality product and great for solar imaging.

Bought for the upcoming eclipse and did a test shot on a Sony A7r3 with Tamron 150-600mm with 82mm filter. I attached a test shot and I'm happy with the results.

I misread the listing when it said ND1000000, I read it as ND100,000, however, it’s actually ND1,000,000 filter. It’s super dark. Filter is very slim and very well made. It comes with 3 cleaning cloths and in a well designed filter case that holds it in place when not in use. I took a test shot of the sun in the afternoon and was surprised of the low shutter speed I needed to use ISO 200, F5.6 @ 1/60 sec. I’m excited to hand this on hand for the upcoming solar eclipse in April. Very high quality filter that will also protect the camera sensor from the sun. Highly recommended!!

The K&F ND100000 comes in a large case (see photo). This is a quibble, but I prefer a smaller box for a 58mm filter; it takes too much space. As with all K&F products, this filter is well constructed. It screws on easily on my lens and has large knurles for easy grip.
I compared two shots using my prime 24mm lens. One is a shot without the filter f8 @ 1/1000. The other is with the K&F ND100000 stop filter f8 @ 1 minute 15 seconds. As can be seen the colors are shifted a bit, so this is not a true neutral density. But they can be corrected in post. At this price point, the colors are close enough for most photography.

I love these filters from K&F. They are excellent solar filters and a good value. This is the second one I have in the 95mm size. The first was a ND100,000 with a reduction of 16.6 stops. This one at ND1,000,000, 20 stops, provides some addition options for getting solar images. Attached is a picture taken with this filter on 2/10/2024 using a Tamron 150-600mm G2 and a Nikon D500. You can clearly see the solar flare in Region 3567 that was prominent today.

I don't know if I'll ever get any real value from these solar shots, but at least I got to experience it because of this ND10000 filter! I'll have to keep experimenting (and probably get a longer lens) to get better shots in the future, but it's pretty cool to see the cool spots in the sun's surface on my own photo.

The K&F Concept 49mm ND1000000 Ultra Dark ND Lens Filter is well made and feels very durable. Fits perfectly on my 50mm Sony lens. It’s easy to use and it’s a great filter for the money.

Very handy filter. Works very well to photograph the Sun. You can capture decent detail on the surface of the Sun when using this filter with a long telephoto lens. The images were photographed with a Nikon D850 and a 200-500mm lens. I have several solar filters and I like this one a lot. When shooting the Sun, be sure to use live view. Unlike telescope solar filters which block UV and IR, camera lens solar filters make no mention of blocking these, so best to err on the side of caution and use live view to set position and focus and not the viewfinder. This will protect your eyes from possible damage. This will be a great filter to use for the upcoming North American eclipse.

after a quick test using a Sony a6400 with 200mm, I was able to see some sun spots and camera is intact.
Need more tries to get a clearer picture, but preparing for the eclipse!!
Note. I edited a little the picture, original will be seen almost white
