The Kentfaith Trinocular Compound Microscope has some very nice features and nice quality parts mixed with some low quality parts, which is why I gave it a midrange rating of 3 stars. The optical system is great. The magnification is as advertised and the microscope as a whole is good quality metal and solid parts. Unfortunately, the knobs that control the position of the slide plate are low quality. You twist the knobs to make the slide plate go up, down, forward, backward, left and right. The knobs feel loose and just feel cheapy. When raising or lowering the plate, when you let go of the knob, it slips a little bit and does not stay where you originally wanted it. This kit comes with slides that are already prepared, empty slides with everything needed to prepare slides yourself, multiple lenses, and it all stores safely and securely in a sturdy canvas zippered case with foam cut-outs for each piece to store and travel safely.

When I ordered this I did not expect the quality item I received. This is a great microscope, it comes with a ton of accessories and the magnification is really great. It's so cool to find different things to look at and the level of detail is wonderful. I love the under lighting feature and did I say the magnification was great?? This would not be something you would find in a forensic lab as it's more a high-end home type item but that's exactly what I got it for. I did not get this to use in a lab type setting but more for hours of fun around my home. This does not disappoint. If you had kids around (maybe older than 5 or 6) I can see they'd have a great time looking at all kinds of things around the house and yard from ants to leaves!
I know it sounds typical of some reviews but I really cannot say enough good about this microscope. It's really nice and much better than I expected!

Super high quality microscope with a huge amount of accessories all in a compact carrying case. This is professional quality. Can be used with or without digital viewer. Everything needed is included.

I really like this microscope. I was able to see more detail on my slides then with the first microscope I purchased. I should have gotten this one first. It was cheaper and the quality was much better.

This is a nice beginner microscope. This also comes in a nice storage case. The magnification is pretty decent which makes this a very nice starter - less like a toy - microscope. The included magnification lenses are an added bonus as well as the sample plates. This was a good find.

This microscope is fun because you can see so many cool parts of the organisms you're looking at. It is easy to adjust all the mechanisms on it. The included slides are neat specimens that kept my kids interested going through one by one on their own.
We used a USB battery pack for the light so we wouldn't have to be right next to an outlet, and that worked great. The carrying case and foam it comes in will protect it well (and it actually did protect it from damage to the box during shipping).

This is a good quality microscope that's capable of real, practical use. This is a substantial device. There's metal in all the right places, like the objective lenses, nose, and especially the arm and base. There's an assortment of eyepieces, too. But, it does seem odd that there's only 2 of each eyepiece, so using the trinocular feature requires trading out an eyepiece, and giving up the binocular view. In use, I like the traditional geared fine/coarse focus knobs - they move smoothly and with enough weight to keep from jerking. Also, I like that the stage has fine controls, too, which makes it a lot easier to narrow in on the subject. And, I like the built-in light sources as well. This can be powered by 4 AA batteries or by plugging into AC power. The adapter is included, too. And lastly, I like that this kit is complete. It has everything needed to get up and running right out of the box. There are a bunch of minor accessories that includes some prepared slides, so you can try it out right away.

Me and my brother really enjoyed using this as our very first home microscope and have spent many hours with it so far. I like the included 10 slide samples to look at along with a box of clear slides for our own samples. I also liked that this came in a really protective carrying case with foam cutouts for each piece. I only wished that the instructions was more user-friendly and resourceful to help us get started better.

Got this for son for Christmas, we have used it a lot to look at blood samples for our chickens blood samples to diagnose sickness. This microscope exceeded our expectation.
