this microscope is the perfect one for kids starting out. my little girl is 8 and this was easy for her to use and understand. It is ver y high quality and comes with attachments.

It just arrived, very light weight, great for travelling or for my dautghter to take it to school, look easy to use as my wife in 2 minutos got it to work.

I have only used it a couple of times so far, but it works great!

As others have said, the instructions are a bit vague, and finding the software is near impossible. I’m a Mac user, so most everything like this is difficult to find.

Pros:
• Very sturdy
• Easy setup
• Clear images¹
• Well worth the price!²

Cons:
• Vague instructions
• Software included, but on included disk
• No model number anywhere.³
• Lensing Oil should have been included.⁴

¹ For the two lower magnifications, you get great image resolution. The two higher resolutions need lensing oil, otherwise you won’t get clear images.

² I have been pricing good microscopes, and they run from $1,000.00 on up.

³ In my search for software, I could have really used a model number. I searched everywhere on the microscope itself and on the Kentfaith listing, and it didn’t exist.

⁴ Without lensing (immersive) oil, the two higher magnifications are useless. Adding oil to the included accessories would have been a good idea.

All in all, this is a great microscope for someone getting into microbiology, or just looking at bugs!

So far I have only used it a handful of times to check out microbial life made from a compost tea it allows me to know my efforts are working

To begin with no matter what you would do the image was double vision,, the head that has the eye pieces on it and swivels was wobbly and after a lot of frustration it took a bit of time to realize that it was not attached properly only one screw was holding it in place the others were nowhere to be found. After tightening up the one screw, we discovered one other screw but still there were only two screws after the head was tightened up the double vision issue was resolved the image is very clear and the microscope appears to be working. Focus is good, objective lenses work welI, lighting condenser is adjustable and good. I don't know if this was a return as it seems everything else is accounted for. This either occurred in shipping or it was most likely a return that was abused. While it is a nice trinocular compound microscope one thing we do not like is the trinocular setting needs to be changed with the sliding mechanism in the photo,making it so that you cannot view at the same time as using the trinocular for recording. We will more than likely not waste any time or frustration with the phone attachment as we have learned they can be very frustrating we will most likely use the five megapixel USB camera that we have. The inability to not be able to use the trinocular at the same time as being able to view the objective is a deal breaker for us. It makes you wonder why that would be something that would be implemented? We have had similar microscopes and they did not have that implemented and you would be able to utilize both features. Overlooking the fact that the microscope came in what you would consider incomplete or damaged condition, based on the issue with the trinocular we cannot recommend this microscope at this time.

Great price, bought as a gift and was well liked.

I think if you understand that this is not some professional grade equipment and instead something to let you and your kids explore the world around you, then you will love this thing.

It came with all the equipment needed to get started, but we put in some batteries to try out that option as well. I really appreciate that it had two different sources of lighting to light samples from above and below. We were able to look at the slides of blood cells and fly wings along with looking at details of coins and stamps.

The microscope is pretty light and easy for my 5-year-old to move around. It has every feature I would want to have and at a good quality. The focuser is very smooth and holds position. The stage has movement controls that work very smoothly and allow you to move the slide into position. We have even been able to pass the microscope around the couch without anything moving out of position.

Overall, this has been an awesome pickup for the family in mind. We are going to use it to look at pond scum and water samples. Check out dirt and see the microscopic life running around. I am nothing but happy with this and for the price, this is a great option.

This microscope is very nice quality and comes in a really nice carrying case with protective padding. I don't know much about microscopes, but as a mother who homeschools a high schooler and a middle schooler I need a good microscope for their science projects. I have a couple of cheaper microscopes that I purchase from a big box store and they fail in comparison to this microscope. The magnification options are wonderful, it comes with several things on slides to look at through the microscope that even my teenage boys found very interesting to look at. Overall I am very please with this product and would recommend it to anyone in the market for one.

I'm still learning all the ins and outs of the included software, but my goodness this is the real McCoy! I figured I could use this to improve my heat treatment and sharpening techniques for forging and blade smithing. Once I am confident I wont ruin this by installing a different sample holder, I'm certain it would fill that roll well. There are 2 lighting options, from below or above, and both are adjustable. The sample holder it comes with is finely positionable in the x and y over a pretty generous run. The electronic eye piece looks like it should have had an O-ring on it to keep it secure and block dust from getting inside the microscope housing, but it didn't. That is the only reason I can see to dock a star from this tool.

The control software for the electronic eyepiece appears to originate from countries generally hostile to the United States, so if that sets off warning flags for your digital security, just be aware of that I guess.

The Kentfaith Compound Microscope is a wonderful entry-level microscope that allows you to peer into the strange, interesting, and uniquely beautiful world of microbiology! This microscope comes with a decent protective case for transport, 4 objectives: 4x, 10x, 40x, and one 100x oil immersion objective (look up proper use of oil immersion objectives, you can create problems via improper use of immersion oil), a pair of 10x eyepieces, a pair of 25x eyepieces, a generous amount of slides, a generous amount of cover glass, a cellphone mount, some prepared sample slides, and several other accessories of varying quality. I would advise you use the 10x eyepieces in conjunction with the provided objectives, topical logic would dictate the 25x would provide a lot more magnification but in reality you loose resolution for negligible magnification (lookup "empty magnification" as it pertains to microscopy). Now at one point I was wanting to "throw in the towel" on resolution or clarity in reference to image quality vs price point...hang in there like I did, read the (albeit not very thorough) manual and do a little research on microscopy using this microscopes features as your reference point, and I think you will have a more satisfying initial experience. Now the price point may seem high for what this microscope is and isn't capable of, but I researched what "good" compound microscopes go for, and the cost is significantly higher. All-in-all I am very happy with this entry-level microscope and I gladly recommend it to the curious, the casual, and beginner users such as myself. The price of admission is well worth it once you've dialed everything in and begin peering into the fascinating world that exists within our own world!
