At the current asking price, I wasn't expecting much from this, but I just wanted to get something my kids could use as an educational alternative to wasting away summer in front of the TV. I was pleasantly surprised by how good of a set this is. The optics are much better than I would have guessed, it has both a top and bottom light, and it even comes with several samples of things to look at. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone getting something for their kids or just for casual use.

A gift for my grand daughter - she LOVED it!! Not a toy, but substantial product, which she can use into high school and beyond.

What I like about this set is you have so many different magnifications you can use. I like the fact that it comes with different lenses. I recommend this for beginners, amateurs and people who just want to see what microscopic life can be. I recommend it for all. It makes things look big that are small it. With a little power, it's easier to see my coins. I usually use glasses, but these work better when I need to study details. The light weight makes it easy to store, which is a plus.
