There are already a lot of good technical reviews out there, so this isn't another. What makes a really good lens is how well it works for YOU. Yes, this lens has some weird distortions that can't be fully corrected (at least not that I've found) and it's manual focus only and doesn't communicate with the camera body, so does manual iris control. Any good points? Well... after a bit of vignette correction in Lightroom (along with as much distortion correction as the profile found allows), the image quality is very good. Most reviewers will advise against using this lens for architectural photography as it has a lot of straight vertical lines due to the mustache-shaped distortion, but that's what I mainly use it for. Sometimes creative manual distortion correction is required to fix wavy verticals. The Canon 17-40mm lens I have is easier to use, more flexible and produces less distortion, but I have some clients who are absolutely adamant about shooting as wide as possible. Is it my everyday lens for work? No, but it's always in the camera bag. It also produces fantastic images of the night sky, stars and all that stuff. For the price, this is a budget lens.

After reading the mixed reviews, I decided to buy it with mixed feelings. A comparison test with the Canon L lens 1:4.0/17-40mm in position 17mm brought surprising results. When focusing at approx. 6-7m, the K&F Concept delivered equivalent or better results than the Canon in terms of sharpness. Especially in the corners of the picture, the K&F Concept delivers excellent sharpness even with an open aperture! With my Canon lens, this was only possible from aperture 11. When focusing at close range (approx. 0.5m) the behavior was exactly the opposite. Here the K&F Concept is only sharp from aperture 11 to the corners. Since I intend to use the lens mainly for landscape photography, I am completely satisfied with the performance. The distortions in the edges of the image are greater with the K&F Concept, but can be reduced in image processing and are less disturbing in landscape shots. I bought this lens used for Canon EF. After two weeks of only being able to test it indoors for a short time due to bad weather, and I didn't really get enthusiastic results, I became skeptical... But now after the first real photo tour I'm completely enthusiastic... it shows its strengths especially at night. .. in the field of landscape, it could become my new favorite lens... At first glance, this lens seems too good to be true. It costs around 15% of Canon equivalents, although admittedly it's manual only. However, the truth is that it's a 14mm lens, so it's got tons of depth of field at any aperture and it's not the kind of lens you'd use to isolate individual elements through focus techniques. I used mine to shoot a performance in a small, low-light location and quickly learned to judge the distance to my subjects, which worked well enough. There were a few headlights in the frame, which also didn't cause any annoying lens flare. I did some testing earlier in the day, photographing black text against a sunlit white background. I did notice some color fringing around the edge of the frame, but that's a worst case scenario and to be honest my later shots didn't give it away. I used mine at F4 so had a stop and got good sharpness throughout the frame. I've heard it's a bit soft wide open, but the truth is I try to avoid lenses wide open at all costs as you never get their full sharpness. So all in all a very economical and satisfying package for me. So why four stars? The included soft case was covered in lint and of course the lens has a large glass eye on the front that cannot be covered by a filter that attracts lint that can be visible in your images at narrow apertures. Otherwise the construction of the lens is very good with a solid body and nice smooth focus and aperture action. So if you want to try ultra wide angle photography but don't want to part with a large chunk of your monthly salary, I recommend you buy this lens. Used on a Canon EOS 5D Mk3.

...if you get a good copy, you will definitely be happy with the lens. With the first lens, the focus setting was not correct at all, it was always sharp at infinity, the second lens was great! The sharpness is good even with the aperture wide open, but cannot be compared with a more expensive lens. The strong vignetting can be easily removed in LR. Overall, I would still recommend the lens

The K&F Concept 14mm, for Canon, is love at second sight. The first impression was a bit annoying due to the manual setting, since I am now spoiled by the (expensive) AF lenses from Canon, and especially because the lens has no jumping aperture. As a result, you can no longer see anything in the viewfinder or on the monitor from aperture 8. In order to focus, it is now necessary to first set a small aperture, focus sharply here and then stop down again to the desired aperture setting. Focusing itself is relatively unproblematic, especially because when using such an ultra wide-angle lens you often work with the hyperfocal distance anyway. I was absolutely positively surprised that the aperture priority works on my Canon 5D II. The processing quality is ok. Plastic, but it doesn't look cheap or filigree at all. Of course you can't compare it to the 2000-3000 euro alternatives from Canon or Zeiss. And now the optical quality: it's awesome! Absolutely sharp, I didn't expect it for the price, but now comes the but. The distortion, it's pretty intense. Not so bad for landscape shots, but quite annoying for architectural photography. Lightroom 5 can help here, as it can fix this with just a few clicks. My Lightroom does not write that it recognizes the K&F Concept, but the distortion is corrected well. For perfect results in architectural photography, Dxo Optics Pro helps, which also recognizes the lens independently. All in all a good lens that clearly exceeded my expectations. If I were a professional and used it several times a day, I might go for the more expensive alternatives, but as an avid amateur photographer, I absolutely love it.

ordered this lens here and use it on my Alpha 7 MKII (no R). What it does is just incredible. I have never owned a lens with such sharpness, detail and color reproduction. At the beginning I bought the camera with the 24-70/4 from Zeiss and I was really happy with it. After that I bought the K&F Concept 85mm 1.4, which I am also very happy with. However, I have to admit that I bought the two K&F Concept lenses in the Canon version and use them with the Commlite adapter, which I bought because I have some Canon lenses from the past. The imaging performance, especially with this wide angle, is simply outstanding and the images are extremely sharp at apertures from 8 to 16 from a distance of approx. 2m to infinity. I initially focused with the red edge enhancement, but found that at this extreme wide angle it's much easier to shoot without focusing. My settings for landscape shots or in the city (buildings etc.) are the following: ISO on Auto, program dial on S (schutter preset) and the shutter speed on 160 or 200, aperture on the lens on 11, the focus ring on the lens between 3m and infinity. Then everything is sharp from 2 meters. It is very important to switch the APS-C sensor adjustment from Auto to OFF in the camera menu. The camera in the standard setting automatically switches the sensor to the APS-C crop as it cannot recognize the lens because there is no electronic communication between the camera and the lens. Without this, you only get an image section that also looks significantly worse in terms of imaging performance and strong achromatic aberrations can occur under certain circumstances. Therefore very important! As many may have noticed, the Sony version is significantly more expensive than the Canon version, so the 70 euros for the Commlite adapter are paid out again, especially if two or more different K&F Concept lenses are purchased, as in my case. The lens is really recommended and a lot of fun!

The optical line of the lens is fine. It's also conveniently small and light. Manual focusing is no problem with the short focal length and high depth of field. Unfortunately, the aperture is set with a ring on the lens (quite classic). As a result, there is no data exchange with the camera and no automatic shutter control can be used. The aperture is also not shown on the camera display and the function of the modes "P" and aperture priority are identical. If you really value it, you should look for another lens. But overall good value for money.

The real shame for those who do casual landscapes and have a canon is not having it. The MAF ring counts very little, a bit stale, it's super wide... you just have to turn it on infinity and turn it off 14mm, they return a beast's point of view and the MAF is very simple. Excellent image quality at all apertures, but check your copy because the K&F Concept isn't first in its class when it comes to quality control. I don't give 5 stars because it took very little time to enter the contacts to pass the exif to the camera.
