The K&F Concept 72mm Black Diffusion 1/4 Filter Mist Cinematic Effect Filter with 18 Multi-Layer Coatings for Video/Vlog/Portrait Photography (K-Series) This is a 1/4 stop black diffusion filter that lowers contrast and makes highlights glow. It’s not quite a soft focus filter, it does give the overall image a softer, dreamier and glowey effect. K&F filters are very well made and very well engineered. I have been using several of their filters recently and I rate them among some of the best in the business. These black diffusion effects are pleasing and subtle at least with the 1/4 and 1/8 stop filters. The effect gets more extreme with the 1/2 and 1 stop models. These are great for wedding, glamor and portraits, or anything you want to have a soft diffused glow to the image. Equally effective for video and photos. A fun effect to play with for added drama and vibe. Works best with scenes with lots of background highlights, or very backlit scenes. Modern lenses and sensors are so sharp that sometimes you just want a softer vibe, this is a good tool in the tool box for an instant dreamy and dramatic quality.

When I say this filter "takes the edge off". It's positive feedback. I'm new to photography and slowly learning about filters, focal point, aperture, etc. To test this filter out, I used it on my iPhone instead of a traditional camera/DSLR. I viewed the scene through the regular lens then placed the filter over the lens. The scene was softer & the light was not as harsh. The filter did what it said it would do. It diffused the light to spread it over more of the scene without taking it over. From my point of view as a mere beginner, I liked the scene with the filter. The lens itself is solidly built. The frame is sturdy and I could hold and manipulate the filter without fear of dropping it or touching the glass. A carrying case for the filter is included along with microfiber cloths. 5/5 for this filter that takes the edge off a scene, diffuses the light, easy to manipulate with confidence.

love the softening and glowing effect a black diffusion filter adds to video and photos. It is a great way of reducing sharpness and makes lighting in high contrast situations look mystical. If you want to add a nostalgic soft feel or cut out the digital look of your video then this is a must have filter. I own the Tiffen black pro most versions of this and I can honestly say that the K&F version does a very good job of replicating that look at a much more affordable price. I also use and love this filter for photography. Highlights on the skin tend to glow a little more and any lighting in the frame looks as if it haves a slight haze around it. This filter can give you a different look without changing anything other than adding the filter to your lens. This is a good budget option for those that may not be willing to pay the much higher cost for the Tiffen version.

Mirrorless cameras, this filter makes every shot you shoot have a soft they’re looking for the highlights and a good flare in greatest skin tones than normal. Kenneth concept always delivers make some of the best filters in the business. Everything is extremely well made. It comes with a very nice wallet to hold your filters in. The black mist filter is a pretty subtle effect. This filter is my first black mist filter. Basically what it does is defocus and soften your images somewhat. I tried a 1/4 filter, but I think I'd prefer the 1/2 for more of the effect it gives. It's fairly easy to soften images a little in your image editor of choice. I think the 1/2 would provide a more natural looking softening than softening in editor software. The filter itself is well built and the ring is nice and slim. The package came with three sealed microfiber cloths which is quite a handy addition. These filters are inexpensive enough to buy several intensities to try. I'm going to buy a 1/2 next!

subtle and soft. this is no sledge hammer, but a delicate mist. A soft diffusion on light sources and specular highlights. A softness to the skin. this is a much, much lighter effect than the old, high end French silk stocking over the lens. ever so slightly dreamy, a light glow without being overkill. I have not compared to pricier brands, but I am quite happy with this. I don't imagine that I will be bringing it out for much more than portraiture, I intend to experiment to see what it can bring to my other photography work. Beautifully packaged and secure, with the added bonus of 3 microfiber cleaning cloths, this is quite the bargain if you are in the market for such a filter.

I've mainly shot landscapes, architecture and still-life images but in the past year have begun doing more people and night shooting. This lens, at 1/2 mist creates a very mild glow and softness to images without sacrificing detail. I've added a touch of glow to some people and macro flower images in post processing, but using a filter to get the effect in-camera produces a much more subtle and natural look. The filter itself is extremely well made, attaches to my lens smoothly and easily and is just as easily removed. Optically, it's spot on and produces no distortion or unwanted artifacts. K&F filters are every bit as good as the significantly more expensive German filters I've purchased and this is now my go-to brand.

his K&F Concept filter screwed on smoothly to my lens, without any of the harsh turning sounds other filters made that I have tried. This filter is rather unique in my collection. I own a lot of UV filters, but this is a diffusion filter. It produces a noticeable glow around light sources. It is a 1/4 strength filter and did produce more of a glow than another brand's 1/8 filter that I tried. The filter itself feels thick and substantial. You can really see the diffusion coating on the glass. Overall, I am happy with this filter and it did what it is supposed to do. It produces a glow that is a bit

This filter provides a nice effect that's difficult to achieve using software with comparable results. The effect targets the entire frame though - unlike what's possible in post processing. Physically, the filter is well made, with good threads. It seems to have good optical quality and the coatings appear uniform and effective. The diffusion seems uniform to me, though I am by no means a professional photographer. It's not an everyday filter but is nice to have when it is warranted. It seems like a good value to me.

have really enjoyed using softening filters again after years of not using them since my film days. Especially on video! This 1/4 black diffusion filter is a nice strength, strong enough to have some effect without overdoing it for most uses. Like a bit of light makeup application, a touch of magic. I especially appreciate the effect on video. I was unfamiliar with K&F Concept until recently but am really appreciating the value and quality of their products. Especially for things you don't need every day. This filter went on the lens easily and I was able to remove it just as easily, something I occasionally struggle with on thin filter mounts.
