This filter is truly wonderful. It gives me a softer skin tone and a slight flare in the highlights for that film-like effect I love. I also have the 1/4 filter, which I use when I want to enhance the effect. I had a minor issue with this filter, and the brand itself was always helpful. They solved the problem by sending me a new filter in just a few days. I'm a professional, and all my filters, and there are quite a few, are from this brand. I highly recommend it for both its products and its customer service—it's 10/10.

I used them for portrait and landscape and also for macros and the result was spectacular, these lenses or filters give them a special very soft fog texture

I’m a wedding and event photographer. The 1/8 black mist filters give the perfect subtle shift to my images. Softening and subtly blooming light sources without losing any noticeable detail from the rest of the image. I’m very impressed. Worth the price.

At the price point (relative to other filters of the same function) you may expect a less than competing performance but this holds its own! Definitely worth the investment.
Look, it’s not a Tiffen Pro Mist but if you’re looking at this I’m imagining that you don’t need a Tiffen filter. This will do the job and do it well!

I give the filter a 5 out of 5, however...
Last Year:
I ordered the 1/8 last year thinking it was 1/8 for my 50mm lens. The texture was very sandy on the lens so you can see the black diffusion particles. I thought the diffusion was strong and not subtle for a 1/8 filter. I didn't think much of it thinking it's supposed to be like that.
This Year:
I then ordered the 1/8 again for a different 50mm lens. The filter arrived and I can't see the sandy texture. I tested it with the filter from last year. It looks like the 1/8 filter they sent me last year marked as 1/8 is actually about a 1/2. The one I ordered this year is a true 1/8 filter because it has significantly less highlight bloom.
Summary:
It works out for me cause now I have a 1/2 and a 1/8. But for those that need it for specific jobs, especially video work, I would double check your diffusion bloom.
