The product records well and works well. Sound quality is good.

I've tested battery life in voice-activated mode: Placed in my living room it covered 17.5 hours, out of which it recorded 2 hours (so it wasn't only sitting idle, waiting for sound. I said out loud the time of day every few hours, so even though the WAV is missing the silence parts, I know exactly what was the duration between start and end of the battery life).

In order to set preferences, one needs to connects the USB cable to a (windows) PC.
Unlike other recorders, where you have to manually edit the preferences file, it has two EXE programs- one to set date/time and one to set the device's recording preferences. Both work well.
- I was somewhat disappointed that the device only records uncompressed WAV files (even though the description mentions WMV as a big selling point... playback file formats aren't very important to me. I want to record compressed files, to save storage)
- There's a parameter for the microphone's sensitivity.
- With the voice-activated recording- I've made some experiments to make it work for me. There's also a parameter for the threshold of the voice-activated recording. On a high setting (8) it cuts away portions of spoken audio. On a low setting (3) it worked reasonably- engaged recording when I was speaking softly on the other side of the room and when I wasn't speaking- it stopped recording and went into waiting mode.

Bottom line- works as advertised- I'm very happy with this device.
