77mm Gold Diffusion 1/4 Filter Mist Soft Glow Warm Highlights Vintage Cinematic Aesthetic Camera Lens Filter Nano-Xcel Series
SKU: KF01.3222V2
K&F Concept does it again. I’m genuinely impressed with the quality of this filter, not just in how it performs, but in the entire presentation. The filter itself feels solid and well made, and the protective case it comes in feels premium rather than an afterthought. Everything about it gives you confidence before you even put it on the lens.
In use, the results are excellent. The 1/4 mist strength adds a warm glow that softens highlights without destroying detail. Skin tones look great, highlights bloom just enough, and the image stays clean and sharp where it should. It adds that extra bit of character without feeling overdone, which makes it really easy to leave on for everyday shooting.
Overall, this is a really enjoyable filter to shoot with and a great way to add warmth and atmosphere to photos. If you’re looking for a subtle diffusion effect with a cinematic feel and don’t want to sacrifice image quality, this one is absolutely worth picking up.

Adds a gentle warmth and soft diffusion without overpowering the image. Highlights take on a pleasing glow and skin tones look slightly warmer, which works especially well for portraits and backlit scenes. The effect stays subtle, more cinematic than heavy. Build quality feels excellent, with solid glass, smooth threads, and clean coatings that don’t hurt sharpness. It’s easy to mount and remove, and feels durable

I ordered this 77mm Gold-Mist filter for testing. It's a diameter I use on my larger lenses, and I can confirm that the build quality is excellent. You can immediately see that it's not a gimmick, but a true precision tool.
What stands out from my tests:
• The visual effect: It does a fantastic job of softening highlights. The unique feature of the "Gold" is that it adds a very flattering golden glow, especially at the end of the day. It gives an organic, vintage look that avoids the overly "digital" and cold rendering of current sensors.
• Ideal for portraits: In 77mm, I mounted it on my favorite lens for portraits. It subtly smooths skin texture without destroying detail. It's a huge time-saver in post-processing.
• Robust construction: The ring is thin, which is crucial at 77mm to avoid black corners (vignetting) in wide shots. The threading is flawless, with no risk of jamming it on the lens.
• Protection: The 28-layer coating is effective. I had a few drops of rain during a shoot; they beaded up and wiped off in a flash with the included microfiber cloth.
Conclusion: This is a very good investment for those who shoot video or professional portraits. The image is warm and balanced, and the optical quality doesn't degrade the image. K&F Concept once again confirms its expertise.

Without having to go crazy with color curves in post-production.
At night, with the artificial lighting of streetlights and shop windows, the behavior is fascinating. The point lights don't remain sterile dots, but blossom into golden halos. However, you need to be careful: if there are very cold lights (like certain white or blue LEDs), the contrast with the golden diffusion can create a peculiar color mix, which I really like for its creativity, but which must be managed.
A key aspect to emphasize is the optical quality of Japanese AGC glass. Often, adding a filter to a quality lens (and the Neewer 18mm is not bad at all) causes a fear of resolution degradation or the onset of unwanted ghosting. Well, during my tests, I didn't notice any perceptible drops in sharpness in the center, nor at the edges. The anti-reflective coating does a great job: even with the sun shining, the filter didn't generate any strange or annoying flares, managing the incoming light with great skill.
Of course, the price is significant. Nearly a hundred euros for a filter isn't peanuts; it's not something you'd spend lightheartedly like a coffee at a bar. However, you have to consider what you get in return. We're not talking about a simple piece of plastic, but a creative tool that modifies the light before it hits the sensor. No software, no matter how advanced, can exactly replicate the way light physically diffuses through nanoparticles, especially in how it manages the roll-off of highlights.
If I had to nitpick, I'd say the "Gold" effect is very specific. It's not an "all-day" filter to be left on all the time like a simple UV protector. It's a specific stylistic choice. If you're looking for pure, clinical white, this filter will work against you. But if your goal is to tell stories, evoke memories, and warm the hearts of those who view your images, then it's a formidable ally.
Conclusions
Ultimately, this gold diffusion filter is a piece of refined optical engineering dedicated to those who aren't satisfied with the clinical perfection of modern sensors. Impeccably constructed, thin, and durable, it offers an aesthetic characterized by a nostalgic warmth and a cinematic smoothness that instantly elevates the perceived quality of photos and videos. I highly recommend it to portrait photographers who want to soften skin without losing detail, videographers seeking that organic, "filmic" look, and urban landscape photographers who love warm lighting. The price is high, it's true, but the quality of the materials and, above all, the unique image rendering justify the investment for those who know what they're looking for. It's an accessory that doesn't boast unrealistic capabilities, but does exactly what it was designed to do, and does it with class.
Thank you so much for getting to the end of this review; I trust my words have offered you a clear and concrete perspective to evaluate whether this little glass circle could be the missing piece in your creative toolkit.
"An assessment expressed with logical rigor and tangible passion, balancing construction excellence and performance with the financial commitment required, regardless of any fleeting enthusiasm."

Got this to try out for some portrait shots and the gold diffusion gives a great warm feel to the images. Not too heavy on the effect with the 1/4 strength, just enough to soften highlights without looking fake. The glass seems good quality, threads on smooth with no issues. Makes skin tones look warmer which is nice for portraits. Works well in backlit situations, gives that "dreamy" summer looking glow without blowing things out too much. Filter ring feels sturdy. Good option if you want that film-like look without doing it all in post.

The Nano-Xcel Series Gold-Mist filter is the sophisticated evolution of traditional diffusion filters. While a standard Black-Mist filter softens highlights, the K&F Concept Gold-Mist adds a layer of golden warmth that enhances skin tones and creates an organic, nostalgic atmosphere, eliminating the excessive digital coldness of modern cameras.
Product Highlights:
* Unique Golden Diffusion Effect: This filter disperses light so that highlights (bright lights) have a soft, ethereal glow with a warm tint. It's ideal for portraits, golden hour, and videos where a classic film look is desired without complex post-production.
* High-Quality Optical Glass: Made with precision glass that maintains image sharpness in the center while softening contrasts and skin imperfections. The effect is subtle yet professional, providing a dreamy finish without blurring the image.
* * 28 Layers of Nano Coating: Nano-Xcel technology includes multiple coatings that repel water, oil, and scratches. These layers also dramatically reduce internal reflections (ghosting) and stray light, which is critical when working with direct light sources.
* Ultra-Slim 67mm Frame: Its slim profile, made of aircraft-grade aluminum alloy, prevents vignetting, even when used with wide-angle lenses. The threading is smooth and precise, allowing for quick mounting and dismounting in the field.
* Versatility in Image and Video: In portrait photography, it naturally softens wrinkles and pores. In video, it provides tonal consistency that makes footage look like it was shot with high-end anamorphic lenses.

For an "effect" filter, I'm finding it quite controllable, which is exactly what I was looking for to avoid turning every photo into an '80s music video. K&F usually releases products with a good price-to-quality ratio, and this one is noticeably a step above in terms of finish.
On a practical note: the threading. It fits smoothly onto my lens and also onto an adapter ring I sometimes use, without that gritty feel of cheap filters. The metal ring has a good grip, and the glass comes well-protected in its rigid case (a small detail, but it gives me peace of mind when I'm carrying it loose in my backpack). The multi-layer coating is noticeable because it resists fingerprints and the occasional drop better, and cleaning it with the included cloth is a breeze.
In terms of image quality, the "gold mist" isn't a blurring filter; it's more of a highlight softener with a warm glow around strong points (streetlights, reflections on cars, an indoor lamp). I've done tests with the same scene and haven't noticed a significant change in exposure, at most a tiny bit, and the color shifts towards gold without turning a strange orange. I've also used it on a couple of quick portraits and yes, it does soften the skin a bit (pores and small blemishes are less visible) without losing focus on the eyes. And although it sounds ridiculous, with it on you feel a bit like a movie spy, because you know you're subtly "altering" the scene.
In short, a soft vintage effect, well-constructed, and easy to apply.

I bought this filter somewhat out of curiosity after seeing some photos online, and it's really impressed me these past few days. What I love most is that you don't have to be an editing expert to get that "nostalgic" or vintage look straight from the camera. When you take it out of the case, you notice it has these little shimmering particles inside the glass, like trapped glitter, and that's what creates the magic when the light hits it.
I've gone out a couple of afternoons to take photos, and the difference is incredible. Streetlights and the sun's reflections on cars take on a beautiful golden hue, like an old film, but without the photo looking blurry or poorly taken. It's much more subtle than I expected; it doesn't make the photo orange or anything like that, it simply gives it a warm atmosphere that looks fantastic.
I've compared it to trying to do the same thing on a computer, and it's completely different. The optical effect of how the light disperses on the sensor is unique. Plus, it saves me editing time because the photo already has character. It feels sturdy in the hand, not like a piece of plastic, and it's easy to clean if you spill a drop. For me, it's been a great way to give my photos a different touch without any hassle.

This gold diffusion filter adds a really nice character to photos and video, especially if you’re chasing a softer, more cinematic look. Highlights get a warm golden glow without blowing out the image, and it gives scenes that nostalgic, late arvo vibe that looks great straight out of camera. Skin tones come up smoother and more flattering while still keeping details sharp where they should be.
Build quality feels top notch and it screws on cleanly without any fuss. The glass is clear and well coated, so there’s no weird colour cast or loss of sharpness, just a gentle drop in contrast that actually works in your favour. Reflections and flaring are nicely controlled, even when shooting into light sources.
It’s not something you’d leave on for every shoot, but when you want mood and softness, it absolutely delivers. Great for portraits, lifestyle shots and video work where you want a bit of that vintage film magic without heavy editing. A quality filter that does exactly what it promises.

I use this filter for portrait photography. It gives a beautiful warm, soft look to the images right out of the camera, reducing harshness. The build quality is solid and it threads onto my lens easily without issue. The golden mist effect is subtle with the 1/4 strength, which is what I wanted. It does help create that vintage cinematic look. It works well for my purposes.
