Get CHIRP and turn off the transmit or you may have to pay a $500 fine for no license.
Very confusing operation. If you are a hard core HAM'ie I guess it would not be. I got mine to listen to weather radio and to scan the HAM Chanels. A big warning should be placed on the box statin that transmitting on this device could result in a $500 fine, even if you are using it in an emergency. There needs to be a Do Not Transmit switch that is obvious and can be set to off by a click of a guarded switch.
