i use it day and night to block the neighborhood sounds while reading working and sleeping. the deeper brown noise on the "city" setting blocks those noises more effectively the cheaper machines that only have the higher pitched white noise. the randomizing "richness" settings add the blocking ability as well. i got this model because i thought it had a self adjusting feature. but don't buy it for that, sure it gets louder when you set down a coffee cup near it, but it doesn't react when a garbage truck goes by. i turned that feature off, but like i said above, the normal settings work great plus i think have its volume going up and down would be distracting.added design features for night time use i like are; you can turn its indicator lights off and the timer fades the sounds rather than shutting them off suddenly.

Sleep WELL!
I'm completely addicted to the SOUND sleep I now get with this machine! I got this for the wife because she likes 'white noise' so she can sleep, but the ones we had prior to this one were all battery operated. This one is ten times better quality and just plugs in! I've never slept better, and for a product I got for the wife, has become something I wouldn't want to be without. Great sleep aid!

It works well
The tripod works well. It is sturdy and should last. My only issue was I did not receive the remote in the package. When I contacted the company, I was made to jump through hoops to prove I didn't get it. I had to take pictures of the packages and the plastic that everything came in. Fortunately it was before recycling day so I still had the items. I submitted all that and finally they "released" the remote for shipment. It has since arrived. Good customer service would have apologized and just sent another remote. That didn't happen.

Works well.
I have used the Ecotones Model being rated without problems off and on. When needed, the lights off mode and insidesound equalizer perform as design. Dailing around for the background sound is simple using the gray button. Soundquality is good for the choices offered.
