How To Get Night Vision Goggles?
Night Vision Is Super Expensive
nvg’s are a luxury item, people who can afford them, typically aren’t dissuaded by the price tag.
nvg is super expensive, but so are harley’s, boats, beach properties, woman, and healthcare. you can’t have them all but anyone who works a normal job can have at least one of them.
just saving money and not having a lot of expenses got me a decent nv/ir setup on the cheap side, around $6k said and done. it's doable, but night vision really isn't "for the poors" due to an offensively high barrier to entry of around $1800 for bottom end devices with halfway modern tubes.
- the 14’s are typically under $2500, whereas the 7’s can be found for $1500 or less.
- used they run around 2k for a decent tube.
- i just bought an omni 7 on instagram for around 2.1k and i'm very happy with it.
- i have the jerry-31 set.
- it was only $4500'ish.
- spending $16k for the real ones was past my limit.
the jerry-31's are great.
i also added the coti.
savings $250/month for a year buys you night vision.
Start Out Cheaper With a PVS-14
if this is your first venture into night vision, you might look into a used pvs-14 or an older pvs-7.
looking at pvs-31’s as your first endeavor is like getting into a bmw or a porsche as your first vehicle.
if you do, do that until you have the budget to buy a pvs-14. like someone else said, that's typically the move to start, and that gives you 85% of the capabilities of a bino setup.
the bino doesn't increase your fov any, you just get stereo vision.
then you either keep saving, sell the pvs and get binos, or you get a second pvs14 and bridge them to make a bino setup.
- start with omni 7/8 pvs 14 for 2k.
- save 3k and sell the pvs14 then buy omni 7/8 1431’s or rnvgs for 5k on gafs or on fb
- then down the line if you really want to upgrade to something nicer save another 3k, sell ur binos and get elbit or l3 mh-1.
this is the best route than having to drop 10k right away.
i went full bore and bought nvd bnvd -sg for like 7700$
then i bought a pvs-14
in hindsight i would have done the reverse ! maybe start out cheaper with a pvs-14 and see if you can get into it?
duals are nice but a quality pvs14 is more than adequate for the needs of most nvg users.
Saving Money and Large Purchases

- when i say that i mean saving money and making sure that the purchase doesn’t financially deprive you
- if you don't have a few hundred you can sock away every month for large purchases
- it's probably out of your range.
- i do have enough to fork out a few hundred per month
- so i'll see what i can do
self discipline, saving, and understanding what actually fits your needs.
31s are nice and light, but omit some features you may want.
taking time to save will allow you to do more research.
save some cash up for the next couple months and buy an omni 7-8 mil contract over-run tube from a reputable seller.

- probably better off just setting aside money and buying a good tube used.
- i afford it by having made a lot of money and no dependents.
while duals are really cool, after trying a bunch of them that friends have, realized i prefer mono for a few reasons, and ordered a high quality one before the quasi world war going on kicked off.
Payment Plans and Financing
there are also vendors that'll take paypal credit, which is interest free financing for 6 months.
but you need to have enough cash flow to cover it in 6 months or the interest will be tagged on and continue accruing.
but then you'd be buying retail and you're looking at 3k for a pvs-14, not 2k.
- the problem with nvg is you can’t finance them in house, only 3rd party lenders and the interest rate is nuts.
- the best way to do it is to take a personal loan out at a manageable rate.
- don’t spend it all.
- and use what money is left over to help make payments if a month gets tight.
