How To Keep Smartwatch Screen On?
How do I enable my smartwatch screen to be always on?

- swipedownfromthetopofyourwatchscreen,tapthegearicontoaccesssettings, then tap display.
- toggle on always-on screen.
- by default, this is automatically off to conserve batterylife.
Use the Always On feature with your Apple Watch

see the time and other glanceable information, even when your wrist is down.
always on is turned on by default on these devices:
- apple watch series 5 and later
- apple watch se 3
- apple watch ultra and later
in this mode, the time is always visible, along with your watch face, live activities, notifications, or active apps like workout.
to preserve battery life, the display dims when your wrist is down, or by a quick gesture of covering the display with your hand. raise your wrist or tap on the screen to bring everything back to full brightness and make the watch screen active.
Manage Always On settings

always on has settings that let you turn the feature off, which can increase battery life. you can also choose the information that you want to appear on the screen when your wrist is down.
How to turn the Always On feature on or off

- open the settings app on your apple watch.
- tap display & brightness.
- scroll down, then tap always on.
- tap always on to turn the feature on or off.
always on isn't available when your apple watch is in low power modecontrol center.
The display goes dim quickly for a reason
smartwatch makers know you’d love to have your display always on -- like a watch. it’s annoying to have to raise your wrist, tap the display or push a button to to be able to see anything. unfortunately, having the display always on runs head-on into the biggest technical challenge smartwatch makers face: battery life.
in most situations and with most smartwatches, the display is the biggest consumer of power. with extremely limited space to cram a battery, something has to give, so the solution is to only fire up the display when needed. otherwise, you’d be charging your watch two or three times a day. then you’d be really upset.
Display timeout and wake-up gesture
i have aod enabled and the display timeout set to 5 minutes, however i can't find a scenario while wearing the watch where the display doesn't return to the dim aod version after a few seconds.
for example - use the wrist-turn gesture to wake up the watch, it returns to aod after 5 always - way too short and is ignoring the 5 minutes i have set in my preferences.
if i turn the bezel or press home button to "wake" the watch it may stay on a little bit longer if i hold the watch statically, however any movement at all and it thinks i have turned the watch away and returns to the aod and again ignores the 5 minute timeout.
i have the screen timeout set to 30 seconds but i noticed the screen will turn off immediately once i put my wrist back down. so perhaps the "wake-up gesture" being enabled also allows it to turn the display back off (or in your case enable aod) when it detects the reverse wake-up gesture. try disabling "wake-up gesture" to see if that works.
its 30 seconds except if woke up by gesture as you have a lot of unintentional wakeups and would drain battery a lot to keep on for x time.
- so with hand wakeup gesture you have a few seconds of on time.
- if you want more touch a button or rotate the bezel
Other screen awake option
- if you really want to drain your battery, get the "i am alive" app.
- watch will never sleep haha...
- there is an app that keeps your screen awake.
