I recently decided to make the switch from a Canon DSLR to a Canon R mirrorless. It was easy to learn since I'm already used to Canons. I bought the EF to RF adapter (with the adjustable ring) so I could use my DSLR lenses with it. My only complaint is that Canon should give you the adapter free (they used to!) when you buy the camera. So far, it's taking good photos, and I decided to buy the kit lens that goes with the camera, so I can use it for all-around use when I'm out and about. I have a very nice Sigma macro lens that I bought at the same time, which needs the EF to RF adapter, but it takes very nice macros on this camera. I'm glad I bought it.

Until recently, my only concession to digital photography was the purchase of inexpensive Canon point-n-shoots. As film photography has become a greater burden and digital has caught up in terms of quality while surpassing in convenience and affordability, my discovery of this little gem at a bargain price was perfect timing. Adding a $15 adapter, I can use may ancient but excellent FD mount Canon lenses - think F1 and AE-1 cameras. Auto-focus speed doesn't matter to me because I still prefer to manually set almost everything. That said, the AF performance of the EOS M seems equivalent to that of my son's Nikon 1.My purchases for my entry into serious digital photography to date include: the EOS M with Speedlite 90EX and EOS M 18-55mm IS lense: an SD card (PNY 64 GB High Speed SDXC Class 10): a spare battery (Opteka LP-E12 LPE12 2000mAh Battery Pack): a lense adapter (Fotasy Canon FD Lens to EOS M Lens); and a neck strap (OP/TECH USA System Connector Super Pro A).

Super happy with my purchase of the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lense. The difference between this and the kit lense that came with my camera are night and day. It’s compact and gets such nice depth of field. Remember to order a new lense protector/filter as this lense is narrower that a kit lense. Customer service was great with a followup email. Shipped same day and had it one day later. Couldn’t be happier.

So you finally decided on getting the EOS M (it's flaws considered). I assume you are a canon user, have a couple of good (canon EF/EF-S mount) lens lying around and would like to be able to use those on you EOS M. Just like me, you love your canon dslr but sometimes wish you can travel light but still be able to enjoy the canon ecosystem that you have grown to love. If you are what I assume you are, get this lens adapter.I took a gamble and bought a "like-new" used from a seller at Amazon and was very happy with a purchase. For anything more than $150 I probably would think twice. But I am not taking a start out because of the price. This adapter handles every canon mount lens I threw at it. The build quality is nice. The design (the way it attaches to the eos m; the included, detachable tripod mount) is well thought of... just perfect.

Canon EOS M Mount adapter is a must have for all Canon EOS M users if they have other Canon EF and EF-S lenses. The construction is solid and heavy. I used several Canon EF-S and EF lenses and they work fine with the adapter. Highly recommended.

My experience with Canon has been with the T3i, T6, 7dmk2 and 6dmk2. Each of these cameras were good in their own ways, but were not perfect. IQ was my biggest complaint, especially in low light.The R6 definitely has better IQ than these previous cameras and performs much better under low light conditions. The eye focus feature is helpful but takes some practice to learn. The images I get with my R6 compared to my 6dmk2 are noticeably sharper and show better tones overall.I am currently using only EF lenses on my R6 thanks to Canon's brilliant adapter! All my EF lenses work flawlessly on my E6 thanks to Canon's adapter. I'm waiting for Canon to release more primes in the near future to keep my R6 kit lightweight.As for the negatives, I'm not a fan of electronic viewfinders. Nothing beats the optical viewfinders of Canon's older dslr's. Also, a top lcd display would have been nice, but it's not a dealbreaker for me.Overall, I highly recommend the R6, especially if you own multiple EF lenses (just remember to purchase the adapter).

Adapter works great, it lets me attach my EF and EF-S lenses to my Canon EOS M without any issues.

First off, this camera is capable of taking some GREAT pictures. After all, this is a cut-down mirrorless version of the Canon Rebel T4i. It has the same large APS-C image sensor and DIGIC processing as the T4i. However, getting those great pictures often requires some effort. It's low-light capability makes it a worthy choice over to a high-end point-&-shoot.Canon released the EOS M to great anticipation, which turned into disappointment. It was plagued by autofocus issues that are mostly resolved in firmware (mostly, as I will explain below). It was also way too expensive at $799 list, and only 2 lenses were available at the time (2 more have been released since). After large stocks of these cameras were found to be just sitting around, they have become available at a firesale price, making them terrific values. I believe if the list were more like $549, they would have sold a lot more of these to start with.Despite all the lack of love for this camera, it has ultimately proved to be a very useful tool, but one that requires using it more like a DSLR instead of a point-&-shoot. All of the usual plusses and minuses that are associated with Canon DSLRs certainly apply here, with the exception that, due to its small size, most of the controls are going to be found on the touchscreen rather than a dial or button. There is the Q button on the back that makes many of the photo shooting options accessible, and changing the mode, white balance, ISO sensitivity, or exposure compensation, is relatively straightforward, even if a few of the options could be streamlined further.As mentioned, the picture quality can be fantastic, even at ISO values of 800 and 1600, however, it will sometimes require multiple attempts to get a focus lock, especially in low-light settings, and especially when using the EF-M lens adapter (discussed below). And while the shutter response isn't quite as fast as a DSLR, it is still sufficient to get most action shots (I have been able to consistently catch dogs in mid jump). The hot-shoe is fully E-TTL capable, so any of Canon flashes can be used to their full extent on this camera (even the big ones, although they will look a little funny on such a small camera).There are a couple of accessories that might be considered essential to this camera that are not part of the original package: The 90EX flash unit (original list price $150, seriously Canon?), and the EF-M lens adapter (original list price $200, yagoddabkidding!) that will allow any Canon EF lens to be used with the camera. Fortunately, both items can be had pretty far below list price online and will prove handy if using this camera for any length of time.The adapter is useful because there are a dearth of EF-M lenses that will natively fit this camera. I've used the 15~85mm, 50mm f/1.8, and 55~250mm on this camera and they function well, if not quickly. They are ungainly looking attached to such a small camera, but they certainly get the job done. Since the only native EF-M lenses for this camera are the 18~55mm, 22mm pancake, 11~22mm, and 55~200mm (with the latter 2 only available via gray market or eBay), this adapter is almost a must.Ultimately, this camera is a great walking around camera whose small size and light weight make it a good stand-in for carrying around a DSLR instead. It is time to give it the love it deserves.
