I love this lamp! I’ve had it for a week now and it’s been working great. I had to replace and old heavy one I just to love but it kept burning the lightbulbs and they were $15 for two so not worth keeping it. Very budget friendly and exceeds expectations!

I gave a four stars overall and for battery life because I don’t know yet how long the battery will last through repeated recharging. I will happily update the stars after 6 months of experience.I purchased Hooga Health Hoogalite_01 & Topelek 7 LED (SXTCAM-YS36) via Amazon to replace my children’s old reading lights that use non rechargeable batteries (Verso model VR001-415-23, which I purchased on Amazon in 2013). My children read so much at night that we have to change batteries about once or twice a month, which had become an expensive habit.I tested the battery life of a full charge on both the Hooga and the Topelek by leaving the lights on at a medium setting and timed how long the rechargeable batteries lasted.Length of time the lights lasted on a full charge:The Hooga light lasted 31 hours.The Topelek light lasted 51 hours.Recharging to full capacity:Hooga: about 4 hrsTopelek: about 3 hrsI don’t know how many charging cycles the batteries are rated for. I assume that “use time” for one charge will get shorter toward the end of battery life.A book light that lasts 51 hours of use between charges may seem the better value than a book light that lasts 31 hours of use between charges. However, the life of the battery in the 51-hour example may be a year and the 31-hour example may be two years. A rechargeable battery that lasts longer between charges may have a lower number of available charge cycles for the life of the battery depending on materials used in the battery and its design. So it’s hard to conclude which is better just looking at use time between charges when the light is new.My kids and my wife tried the Hooga and Topelek light over the course of four nights. All preferred the Topelek mainly because of the long use time between charges. Though, we are keeping the Hooga to see which has a longer overall battery life. I will try to remember to update this review when we get the results of that test.One of my daughters preferred the different light temperature choices of the Topelek and was additionally pleased with her choice when she learned of the longer use time.My other daughter initially had a preference for the Hooga light because she liked the color temperature and the operation of the on/off switch better. But when she saw how long the Topelek light lasted between charges, she changed her opinion. She was focused on convenience of less frequent charging (she uses a book light 1-1.5 hrs/night). And I’m sure since I am the one paying for the light, the economic factors weighed less heavily on her decision process.From my perspective, I am currently paying $2.20-4.40 for each old book light per month in disposable batteries (not terrible if the result is children who like and continue to read. But I’d like to try to lower the cost.) If the rechargeable lights make it 4-7 months, I break even. If they survive 18-24 months before battery end of life, I will feel very successful in our choice.
